2024 Goal

The California chapter of Emgage launched operations in January 2024 with the launch of its signature product, the Southern California Muslim Civic Table (The Table) inaugural event, on Apr 16, 2024. In partnership with our co-convener the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), Emgage convened more than five dozen community leaders, civic organizations, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and cross-sector professionals from diverse constituencies for a strategy session on how to synchronize local organizing efforts ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Within two months of the launch, members of the Table were able to identify legislative priorities specific to the Southern California Muslim community with four main goals and three strategic objectives that will serve as the basis /foundation as we work to chart forth a strategy that centers Freedom of Speech and Pro-Ceasefire candidates as our primary legislative goals for the 2024 election cycle.

Goals

1. Policy priority is to protect free speech
2. To support pro-humanitarian and pro-ceasefire candidates ahead of the 2024 election
3. To unify Muslim voters into becoming a recognized national/local voting block
4. To leverage our national Muslim database and voter files in a real way to impact key races

Objectives

1. Increase Muslim voter turnout for pro-Palestinian and pro-ceasefire candidates and address low voter turnout via:

a. Develop personifications to understand demographics & psychographics
b. Develop organizing, communications, and marketing strategies
c. Community education
d. Youth mobilization

2. Unite & increase collaboration among Muslim civic organizers and mosque communities via

a. Intercounty Relationship building
b. Community education forums
c. Networking events

3. Form a small committee of political organizers to identify viable races where we can flip a district through a coordinated voter mobilization campaign
